Top 10 Questions on CBD Oils
CBD oils are trending worldwide and have soared in popularity with many people, especially after their recent legalisation in the UK. This has left millions wondering what benefits the oils can bring to them.
The Cannabis Trades Association UK has reported that the number of cannabidiol consumers rose from 125,000 in 2017 to 250,000 the subsequent year.
With so many questions running around in so many consumer’s heads, we’ve compiled some of the top 10 questions that keep arising.
1. Are hemp oil and CBD oil the same thing?
Hemp oil and CBD oil both originate from the same cannabis plant. However, CBD oil is made from the flowers, leaves and stalks and hemp oil is made from the seeds.
2. Will CBD get me high?
No, CBD oil cannot get you ‘high’ or ‘psychoactive’ as the THC component that gives cannabis its psychotic effects, is not present within the formula.
3. Is CBD Legal in the UK?
As long as CBD does not contain THC, then it is legal. If there is THC present in small traces, then this is considered to be a controlled substance under the 1971 Act and is illegal to possess or supply, unless it meets the ‘exempt product’ criteria which is outlined in the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001.
4. How is CBD Oil Taken?
CBD can be taken orally, where it is held under the tongue for a few seconds before swallowing, or it can be bought as an e-vape oil which is inhaled via a vaporiser.
5. Where can I buy CBD oil?

8. What percentage of CBD concentration should I get?
Not sure whether it’s 2%, 5% or 8% you need to get?
On our online store, you will find two types of standard CBD oils, Spagyric and Alchemic; each comes in a range of concentrations from 200mg (CBD Oil 2%) and 500mg (5%), to 800mg (CBD Oil 8%). Depending on the strength of oil you require, you should base your purchase on this.
You may notice that the CBD oils each have a percentage and mg next to their name. This can seem a little confusing at first, but read on to find out more.
The percentage is useful to work out the strength, although mg may be more practical for some people. A 10ml bottle with 5% CBD means that 95% of the bottle is made up of the carrier oil (in most cases, coconut) and other cannabinoids (not THC) or phytochemical from Hemp. So the percentage indicates how much CBD is present as a percentage of the entire bottle.
5% of 10ml gives us 0.5ml of CBD, which when converted into mg, gives you 500mg per bottle. Pretty easy when you know and we think it’s useful to have this knowledge when making your purchase.
The interesting stats don’t end there either.
Did you know that in a 10ml bottle, you’re looking at approximately 200 drops!
So, how much concentration of CBD do you get per drop?
Well, for 500mg or 5% CBD oils, you get about 2.5mg per drop you ingest
It usually makes sense to start small and work your way up. There is no exact dosage for CBD, so we suggest 3 drops under the tongue twice a day as a starting point and then adjust accordingly.
Increasing your dosage in increments, means you eventually work out what your ‘therapeutic window’ is if you like.
9. Is it possible to overdose on CBD oils?
CBD has been shown to be safe to use in high doses. CBD will not cause a fatal overdose. However it is possible to take too much CBD. A consequence of taking too much CBD is the increased chance of negative side effects like lethargy or drowsiness.
10. Are CBD oils addictive?
No, CBD oils are not known to be addictive; with more research CBD oils could prove to be a useful tool to help breakdown addictions to other harmful substances.
