Using CBD Cream For Pain In The UK

There is some evidence, mostly from animal studies, that topical cannabidiol (CBD) cream may be beneficial for arthritis, inflammation, and chronic pain.

A limited amount of research has been conducted into CBD’s effects on arthritis in humans, and no research has been conducted specifically on CBD cream.

What is CBD cream?

Cannabis contains a wide variety of chemical compounds. The component known to cause the “high” is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

This feeling is not induced by CBD, other major compound of the cannabis plant. CBD may offer several health benefits, according to some supporters and researchers.

Find out how CBD and THC differ

Federally, CBD is legal, but only in products containing less than 0.3% THC. Additionally, each place has its own regulations. There are some places that require a prescription, while others allow CBD to be sold as a supplement or even a beauty product.

CBD regulations in each state should be researched.

Several types of seizures can be treated with CBD drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). CBD cream has not been approved for any purpose, including arthritis treatment.

Oils or butters are combined with CBD in these creams. Other topical ingredients, such as capsaicin, may also be used by companies marketing these products to people with arthritis.

Does CBD cream help with arthritis?

Research on CBD for arthritis is promising, but not conclusive, according to the Arthritis Foundation (AF). Several animal studies have shown promise, but there are currently no well-designed studies that prove CBD cream is beneficial for people with this condition.

According to most research on CBD, it doesn’t provide pain relief or numbing effects. Instead of causing arthritis pain, it helps reduce inflammation. As a result, you may need to use it for a long time to see noticeable results.

Earlier studies on mice with laboratory-induced arthritis found that oral CBD could reduce arthritis symptoms by targeting inflammatory chemicals, rather than CBD cream.

After four consecutive days of CBD cream treatment, rats showed less pain-related behaviours and had fewer inflammation markers, according to a 2016 study.

CBD cream has not yet been specifically studied in humans, but some research has been conducted on CBD in humans.

Sativex, an oral mucosal spray containing CBD, was found to ease arthritis pain over five weeks in a 2006 preliminary study. In this study, Sativex was found to be more effective than a placebo in relieving pain, but the study was small, and no CBD cream was specifically used.

CBD is also used in many similar studies along with other cannabis derivatives, so it is unclear whether any apparent benefits are derived from cannabis itself, from THC, or just from the CBD.

Pros and cons of CBD arthritis cream

For arthritis, CBD cream has the following pros and cons:

Pros

Most people are safe from CBD.

Evidence is limited that cannabinoids can help reduce chronic pain.

Anxiety, sleeplessness, and pain may be reduced with CBD with the help of the CBD pain cream.

Cons

CBD can potentially interact with other medications.

CBD may cause side effects, such as fatigue, nausea, and diarrhoea.

Effective and safe dosage cannot be determined by clear guidelines.

Is CBD right for you?

The use of CBD products does not replace the need for arthritis patients to take medication.

To ensure that CBD products don’t interact with prescription or nonprescription medications or health conditions, people should consult a healthcare professional before using them.

CBD side effects

Most people shouldn’t experience serious side effects from the CBD at moderate doses. Drug interactions and adverse effects may occur, including some that are serious, with this substance as with any other medication.

There are several common side effects

Sleepy or inattentive

Diarrhoea or nausea are symptoms of stomach problems

Irritability and mood changes

As well as the CBD, other sedating substances, such as alcohol and opioids, may interact with it. The interactions between CBD and other medications have not yet been fully identified by experts, so it is best to consult a healthcare professional before using CBD with other medicines.

Some people may experience an allergic reaction to CBD, particularly if they have a tree or nut allergy.

CBD’s long-term effects have yet to be confirmed by researchers.
